The surrounding hillsides of Las Vueltas de Tucurrique

Our area is rich in natural beauty.  It is located in the Cartago Province, about an hour and a half drive south east of San Jose.  Our closest village is Las Vueltas de Tucurrique, with a population of  less than 600 .  It can be accessed by the main roads leaving Cartago central, passing Paraiso and the Cachi Dam.  The elevation is about 1400 -1800 feet above sea level with variations throughout the mountainous layers.  The climate is quite constant with ranges of 63-80 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year.  Agriculture is the main source of income and trade for most people in the community.  Sugar cane and coffee are the predominant crops along the hillsides.  It is quite common to see tractors hauling large rib-caged trailers full of freshly cut sugar cane in transport to the mills.  Many still use horses as a means of travel along the dirt road which passes our property.  Life in the country is calm, simple and a bit old-fashioned.
